For two hundred years, the wealthy, the weary and the unwell made their way to this North Yorkshire town, celebrated as The Nation's Spa, to drink its sulphurous waters, walk its great open stray, and restore themselves. Physicians prescribed it. Poets wrote about it. Royalty visited. Harrogate became, in the language of the age, a place of Cure.
 

That tradition never left. Harrogate's 200 acre Stray remains protected by historic law. Its Turkish Baths - the best surviving in England - still steam and warm as they have since 1897. Valley Gardens, the Pinewoods, the mineral springs of bubbling underneath: the landscape that made Harrogate famous is still here.
